A Twitch streamer had a pretty bad hand injury after she tried to catch a falling katana while live-streaming, which was an awkward situation that unfolded in real time.

The streamer, Bisscute, whose real name is Madalina, was live-streaming from Spain on February 6th when the incident happened. While she was streaming her decorations in her streaming area, the katana fell out of its sheath. She tried to catch it with her bare hands, tearing her tendons in her middle and ring fingers.

She immediately ended her stream, then went to a clinic and then a hospital to have her hands cleaned and treated. Later in her updates through Discord and X, Bisscute appeared bandaged and with a cast on her hand while smiling in her hospital bed and letting her fans know that she was scheduled to have surgery the next week.

A few people were wondering how bad her injury was because there wasn’t much blood in her stream. On February 7th, Bisscute went back live and talked about her experience.

“Wednesday night I was streaming live, and I wanted to show chat my katana,” she said. “It dropped, and I went by reflex to catch it. The lesson of today i,s do not try to catch a falling blade. Knife, sword. In this case, I did, and I ended up severing two of my tendons from my middle finger and from my right ring finger.”

She went on to say that this meant a hand surgery was on the way and that she recognized the irony of the situation.

“I am a content creator. I do Twitch, I do YouTube. I do a variety of things, including almost getting my fingers chopped off live,” she said. She added that she is willing to answer any questions about why she has a real katana rather than a replica.

Despite the unfortunate incident, Madalina was in a good mood during her live return and thanked the painkillers for making her comfortable.
