South African singer-songwriter Tyla continues her meteoric rise in the global music scene, achieving significant streaming milestones and setting new records.
Her track “Push 2 Start,” released on October 11, 2024, as part of the deluxe edition of her self-titled debut album, has now surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify. This accomplishment marks her fifth song to achieve this feat, following the success of “Water,” “Truth or Dare,” “Art,” and “Jump.”
This achievement has propelled her album, “Tyla,” into the record books. It is now the first album by an African artist to feature five songs each with over 100 million streams on Spotify, highlighting Tyla’s growing influence and the global appeal of her music.
“Push 2 Start” is a reggae-infused Afro-pop track that blends elements of Afrobeats and Amapiano-R&B. The song showcases Tyla’s versatility and has been praised for its infectious rhythm and compelling vocals.
The music video for “Push 2 Start,” released on November 8, 2024, has also garnered significant attention, amassing over 20 million views on YouTube.
Tyla’s recent accolades include winning the inaugural Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance with “Water” in February 2024, making her the youngest-ever African artist to win a Grammy Award.
She also delivered a live performance at the 2024 BET Awards, where she tied with Usher and Victoria Monét for the most awards won.
Additionally, her appearance at the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show generated $2 million in media exposure, further cementing her status as a global music sensation.
