The sequel to 2018’s Venom finally arrives in theaters after dealing with delays due to the effects of COVID-19 and sees the return of star Tom Hardy in the titular role.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage has been the best film since returning to a theater. Tom Hardy and Venom’s relationship has evolved since the first film. The two had a rocky point and eventually split up before coming back together in this new film. Through all the entanglements it seems like they will stick together like Will and Jada.

The duo were funny as hell. The back and forth punchlines between the two made this film epic. Hardy was listed as one of the writers in the film, which makes a lot of sense when you watch the film.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to cast Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady needs a raise by tomorrow morning. I was invested in Cletus Kasady and understood why he did some of the things he did. Throughout the film, it seems like Kasady was an evil maniac since he was child but it turns out he was a child that needed help and the world turned his back on him. Kasady brings instant chaos when he merges with Carnage. The two turned out to not be a match but were very entertaining to see on screen.

Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison / Shriek was a great casting choice as well. I loved that hairstylist brought up the old calypso vibes from Pirates of the Caribbean for this film. I did wish they would have used Harris more because there was so much more room for Harris to shine in and she never disappoints when she’s on screen.

Stephen Graham as Detective Mulligan in this film was mad annoying and stupid. It made me question how he became a detective in the first place. Every time he had obvious clues he just ignored them. I don’t know if the writers did this on purpose, they nailed it if it was on purpose. Stephen Graham did good with the lines he was given though.

Michelle Williams and Reid Scott did a good job reprising their roles as Anne Weying and Dr. Dan Lewis. These two brought a little comedy to film. They were a joy to see onscreen but don’t think it would be necessary to see them in the next Venom film. They did a good ending with the doctor and Anne character arc. Anne and Venom had a great hilarious moment in the film as well.

I would rate this film an 8.2 out of 10. It’s really entertaining to watch from the beginning to the end.
