Gaining traction as an international phenomenon, acclaimed Nigerian Gospel singer, songwriter, and musician Victor Thompson recruits one of music and culture’s most influential voices in music today Gunna for a soaring new Official Remix of his anthemic single “THIS YEAR (Blessings)” out now.

Gunna recently pulled Victor on stage during his massive sold-out headline gig at YouTube Theater in Los Angeles last month. In front of the packed audience, they teamed up on an emotionally charged duet of “THIS YEAR (Blessings)”—as chronicled by Complex.

A clip of the performance incited a viral impact on social media, and fans have clamored for this collaboration to formally drop. Victor delivered today, uniting his home of Nigeria and Gunna’s Atlanta both sonically and spiritually.

Produced by Samuel OdeyKevwe Okpidama, and Olaleke Korede Dominion, the track opens with cinematic synths as Victor’s words resonate, “Everything I be wanting, manifesting for my life.” Gunna joins him in harmony before serving up a standout verse. He caps it off with a powerful and poetic promise, “Talk to God, it’s out of my control, I would never ever sell my soul.”

The original “THIS YEAR (Blessings)” with Ehis ‘D’ Greatest has dominated streaming platforms with north of 77.4 million Spotify streams and over 52 million views on the music video thus far.

Meanwhile, the sped-up version, acoustic version, French remix, North African remix, and Brazilian remix have gathered a collective total of 44.4 million Spotify streams. It peaked at #35 on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Chart.

In 2021, he dropped his debut “Dependable God (Medley), tallying over 9.8 million Spotify streams and attracting a devout audience. Fan favorites such as “Not Moved” and “My Back” followed, while “THIS YEAR (Blessings)” cemented him as one of the fastest-rising voices in Afrobeats in 2023.

He notably earned a nomination in the category of “Best Inspirational Single” at the 16thHeadies Awards in addition to garnering “Best Overall Hit Song,” “Best Prophetic/Uplifting Song (Africa),” “Best Thanksgiving Song (Africa), and “Best Collaboration Song” at the 2023 Marathana Awards.
