A24 has released the trailer for The Death of Robin Hood, a dark retelling of the traditional English story. The film’s cast includes Academy Award-nominated actor Hugh Jackman, playing an elderly Robin Hood. Jackman has never worked with this studio before.
According to the movie’s synopsis, “Robin Hood, grappling with a dark past that involves crimes such as murder, gets seriously injured in a fight he hoped would be his last.” Then a woman he does not know offers him salvation.
Michael Sarnoski is the author and director of “The Death of Robin Hood.” Sarnoski previously drew attention with the film “Pig,” which features Nicolas Cage as a truffle hunter. The rest of the cast includes Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgard, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe. In “The Death of Robin Hood,” Bill Skarsgard will portray a “version of Little John” who was taught by Robin Hood.
In addition to acting, Jackman will also serve as an executive producer, alongside Sarnoski, Rama Gottumukkala, Jon Rosenberg, and Natalie Sellers. The producers are Aaron Ryder, Andrew Swett, and Alexander Black. Other crew members include editor Andrew Mondshein, cinematographer Pat Scola, production designer David Lee, and costume designer Lorna Marie Mugan, among others.
The film is scheduled for release in 2026.
