Candice Patton recently appeared on The Open Up podcast to speak about her time portraying Iris West on CW’s ‘The Flash’ set. She opened up about the mistreatment she faced on ‘The Flash.’ The CW and WB refused to protect her against racism and harassment from fans. She also spoke out about the unequal treatment between her and her non-black costars.
Amongst other things, the show’s social media account followed all of the main cast members except her. She also faced hostility from hairstylists who did not have experience with black hair. ‘The Flash’ also said only one of her co-stars would stand up for her before 2020.
Patton will continue Iris West’s legacy by recently inking a new deal for ‘The Flash’ season 9. She has been with what is now the longest-running Arrowverse series since its October 2014 launch.
