An Atlanta woman claims the city’s dating scene is a kind of “players’ choice awards” for guys who always have plenty of options and never end up marrying their ladies.

The woman, who calls herself KP, posted a TikTok video describing how the guys whom she has been dating betrayed her and how she noticed one of them dating another woman. KP dreams of getting a loyal guy and creating a solid family, and she also observes that everyone who tries to date in the city must be exceptionally self-confident.

“Sitting in my car waiting for my AirPods to charge before I go into the gym, but I think it’s worth talking about dating in Atlanta,” KP, 27, said in the video. “I feel like as a collective, I’m a 27-year-old girl; dating in general in our era, we know is so tough, but dating in Atlanta is not for the weak. You better have your boots strapped up all the way to your up here, OK?”

She said she put considerable effort into dating.

“You know when I say I’ve had my fair share, I have tried dating, and baby, have I tried, and it is so trying,” she said. “It is so traumatizing.”

KP said she exploded with anger during a recent weekend out with her friends.

“I mean, I literally this weekend, I was out with my girlfriends, and boom, I see, you know, my little boo on a date,” she said. “I’m like, what? But I’m supposed to be cool about it, right? ‘Cause we’re not together and we’re single, but I’m supposed to be cool.”

She said she did not stay calm.

“So I mean, I absolutely snap, because to me, I’m like, my husband would never do this to me,” she said. “If we’re actively dating, I’m actively seeing you as you would be in a relationship, but then it’s like, you know what, oh yeah, I remember, you don’t want to be in a relationship right now, but you just still want to have a good female presence around. And it’s just like, why come rock my world? Why even put in my presence?”

KP said she still believes in dating but finds that most men keep women with them forever without ever choosing them.

“And maybe that’s on me.” I still believe in going on dates and meeting people, but there comes a point when dating starts feeling like this: they’re keeping you around simply because everyone’s glass is half empty. They know there are other options; they could really get to know you and date you, or, you know what I mean, be intentional and believe you’re a good person, yet the commitment never materializes.

“I feel like people have lost that sense of choosing somebody,” she added.

Her recommendation to others starts with self-confidence.

The biggest thing, she said, is to know what kind of person you are. You have to be incredibly confident in yourself. You have to recognize how amazing you are. You have to feel that inside you, because before you even step onto these grounds, before you even step onto the grounds, she paused, then turned to herself. I have ADHD. I am in, what is it, an injustice sympathetic, or like, I care so deeply about being fair.

This sense of fairness, she explained, conflicted with a guy she was dating who was telling her that cheating should not surprise her.

“And I even went on a date with somebody who basically said that I was, long story short, stupid to believe that, basically telling me as we get older that I should simply expect my husband to want to cheat on me,” she said. “And I just had to argue with him.”

“I was like, I, I mean, I think I will ideally be with somebody who loves me to the core, who would never, ever, ever think about hurting me,” KP added.

She said she argued with him.

“And I’m like, I had to argue with him. I’m sorry, because I truly believe my purpose in life is to create a beautiful family and nurture wonderful, intelligent, healthy people who bring goodness to others. I envision a tall, fine man who would never dream of breaking my heart or what we’ve built together.”

She mentioned that the guys with attitudes like this are the ones she keeps meeting.

“But it’s like those are the kinds of people who seem to surround me, and I think to myself, well, I probably won’t be dating you,” she said.
