City Girls’ own Yung Miami reached for her gun and picked up her Twitter app at the same time. In an all-out rant that left fans double-clicking and side-eyeing, she called out South African sensation Tyla for flat-out stealing the idea for one of her songs.

“This girl really ran off with my song and ion know how to feel about it mind you I played this song for this girl 🤔🤔🤔” Miami tweeted, the catalyst for the figurative flames engulfing the internet.

When one fan attempted to dampen the dramatization, reminding Miami that it took her an eternity to release the song, the rapper shot back in a heartbeat: “Don’t matter it’s my mf song!!!”

Chanel Wars: Who Was the First?

The root of the controversy? Miami says that she actually had a song titled “Take Me to Chanel” in the stash. Allegedly, she even let Tyla hear it at some point. Forward in time, and Tyla’s now previewing a song titled “Chanel.”

Yung Miami’s response was blunt and merciless: “Take me to Chanel > put me in Chanel.” Literal meaning: she does not buy the coincidence.

The fans, always the online detectives, began investigating. Side-by-side comparisons of extracts rapidly went viral and the debate was stoked. Some listeners were adamant the energy was too similar for ease and others were convinced Miami was being dramatic and Tyla was simply riding a Chanel inspired vibe.

Miami Calls Out Tyla for the Whole World to See

The tweets didn’t really end there. “Like…. B**** I’m confused!” Miami threw in some added daggers for good measure. Then the big callout: “Let’s talk about it!!!!! I played her the song!” With those statements, Miami essentially put Tyla in the dock in the court of public opinion. Twitter timelines were suddenly virtual battlegrounds: Team Miami blamed Tyla for swagger jacking, while Team Tyla came to their fave’s defense, claiming fashion brand shades in songs are nothing new.

Tyla Keeps Things Cute and Quiet

Right now, Tyla hasn’t said anything. No tweets, no IG Stories, no sly shade. She’s leaving the internet to yell while staying silent and likely biding your time to clap back/straighten things out.
