“Coco” Gauff came back from the brink to best her third-round opponent, Polona Hercog of Slovenia, at Wimbledon. Gauff will face Simona Halep, the tournament’s seventh seed, in the round of 16.
The epic comeback came on game’s most storied and famed court, Centre Court of Wimbledon. Coco Gauff was down 5-2 in the second set almost being a eliminated from Wimbledon. She delivered a backhand slice that landed right on the chalk which kept her in survival mode.
After that Hercog took her foot of the gas. She started playing cautiously and lost her aggression she had in the first set. She started to make critical mistakes for overthinking and playing the match safely. A big mistake came when Hercog served for the match at 5-3 and held her second match point: She double-faulted.
