A 25-year-old employee at Graves County Middle School was arrested on Friday for the crime of grooming a minor. The charge is relatively new in Kentucky, as it was implemented within the last month due to a recently enacted law.

According to a press release, Sadie M. Flores, who comes from Mayfield, was arrested at 3:30 p.m. at the sheriff’s office and charged with grooming a minor, a Class D felony. The law that makes this crime punishable took effect on July 15th.

According to the press release, Flores is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a minor student in the Graves County School District, Sheriff Jon Hayden says in the news release.

The case was initially reported to the Graves County School District office and then forwarded to the sheriff’s office, where it was investigated. Electronic evidence was gathered and interviews conducted during the investigation.

Flores was interviewed on Friday and subsequently arrested. She was then transported to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center before being transferred to an out-of-county detention center.

The investigation is still ongoing, according to Hayden.
