A probate judge in Alabama will have to be suspended following an accusation against her that is 120 pages long. The document says the woman would postpone hearings so she could walk her dogs and made a racist comment regarding the white court’s employee.
According to AL.com, Probate Judge Yashiba Blanchard is accused of violating judicial rules multiple times.
For example, in one case, she canceled a previously scheduled hearing without promptly arranging another, forcing the patient to be hospitalized for another two weeks.
The hospital workers claimed in an email that “not only prevents her from being home with her family for Thanksgiving, but it also generates unnecessary hospitalization costs and creates avoidable emotional distress for the patient.”
Furthermore, the complaint states that the judge referred to the court’s chief clerk, Amanda Reid, who is white, using the racist phrase: “Oh, I forgot you all like kissing white a**” after another court worker complimented her.
Also, the judge was approached by a clerk who requested to be moved to Birmingham due to the long commute to her sister’s deathbed, and her wish was not granted. Her sister died later on.
Blanchard has not yet commented on the charges raised.
