A video of a white woman making a racist slant-eye gesture towards an Asian woman over a parking spot in Dallas, Texas is making its rounds on social media.
Instagram user @ashreypark, who’s real name is Ashley filmed the interaction between her and the racist woman in the parking lot of the NorthPark Center shopping mall. Ashley posted on her page with a caption that said:
“She did this over a PARKING SPOT and was so bold to do it again for the camera. Behavior like this won’t be tolerated and needs to be corrected. She thinks she can act like this with no consequence and I would really love to show her what consequences her ignorant actions can yield. Still so crazy to me that she did this over a parking spot. I can only imagine what other foul things she does in her daily life.”
Ashley also went into context about how the incident allegedly started. “She had come into a one-way lane, going the wrong direction, to steal a parking spot that I had clearly been waiting for. She got upset and made a racist gesture at me,” Ashley says.

The woman that made the racist gesture towards Ashley got the identified as Amy Pearson, a licensed cosmetologist in Kaufman County, according to Danesh Tik Tok video. He also made another video on the platform explaining how Amy Pearson rents a salon, which means they can’t legally fire her over the situation but people know where they can avoid her services.

Trying to steal a parking space like that is not all that different from thinking it’s no big deal to destroy public property or steal, she’s obviously just generally a shit person lacking morals. But, come on, she was basically daring the Asian woman to do with the photo what she could, not expecting that it might actually get some attention. She deserves all the attention she’s getting now.

Surprise, surprise. Amy Pearson has an arrest record for assault. Racists like her want to escape accountability and run into the shadows because they are spineless cowards.
On one hand, these seemingly harmless actions (to many) can be perceived to be associated with more egregious harm or the condoning of such.
On the other hand, the outrage displayed over the action is disproportionate when a group conveniently ignores worse actions taken against others. The “not my fight” effect.
All groups in general, including those being victimized here, engage in this type of “playful” racism in safe spaces. It usually comes to light in incidents like this or when when it’s normalized.
Should we base everything on 1st amendment rights? It didn’t matter with Kaepernik or Chapelle.
Should we base it on choosing to associate with someone based on their character? Religious tribalism has shown how detrimental it is. Would socializing more with other groups help one realize how alike all are?
To varying degrees, a member of one group would assume the each of the other groups has a monolithic personality while they view their own group as including members with 100s or 1,000s of different, individual personalities.
