Supermodel Anok Yai is hitting back at The Washington Post over its report that claimed that she tore her dress to urinate during the 2024 Met Gala event.

In her two Instagram posts reacting to the May 4, 2026, Washington Post article, Yai directed her words to both the news agency and the author, Maura Judkis. “I usually stay quiet and keep to myself but @washingtonpost @maurajudkis HOW DARE YOU MISALIGN MY CHARACTER AND IMPLY THAT I RIPPED MY OUTFIT AND PEED ON MYSELF DURING THE MET GALA OF 2024! FACT CHECK NEXT TIME! ARE YOU CRAZY?!” she wrote.

In her second post, Yai challenged The Washington Post. “If you find any photos of my outfit ripped or urine dripping down my leg, send it to me,” she wrote.

The Washington Post’s story focused on celebrities’ struggles to attend to their biological needs because of their tight, elaborate costumes worn during the gala event. This was according to an anonymous seamstress’s statement, in which she had assisted in removing a model, whom she later identified as Yai, because of the design of her dress, to facilitate the model’s bathroom needs.

At the time of writing, neither the Post nor Judkis had responded to Yai’s claims.

There were also online reactions to Yai’s stance on the matter. Many people expressed their solidarity with her over what they perceived to be a case of Black women’s humiliation and stigmatization in public spaces. One person commented, “Black people continue to be objectified and animalized and infantilized even after attending a prestigious event in 2026.” Another commented that “A black woman at the peak of her career will be going through misogynoir and defamation.”
