Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her fiancé, Riley Roberts, called off their engagement about two years ago, according to recent reports.
Leigh Ann Caldwell, chief Washington correspondent at Puck, initially reported the split. TMZ later confirmed this information with sources from Capitol Hill.
The office of Ocasio-Cortez issued no comment.
Neither Ocasio-Cortez nor Roberts has commented on the relationship publicly, and the exact date of the breakup is unknown. The couple has not been spotted together since the 2021 Met Gala.
The Congresswoman announced the engagement in May 2022 via social media, writing, “It’s true!” after the news of the proposal spread. According to her, Roberts proposed a month earlier while they were in Puerto Rico, where her family comes from. They were not in a rush to get married then. No marriage plans were revealed.
Questions on their relationship came up again when Ocasio-Cortez revealed that she decided to freeze her eggs and started documenting the whole process, which she found daunting. She did not mention her fiancé in the first video related to this procedure.
