AOC Says President Trump “Clears A Room” As Yassamin Ansari Calls Him “The Most Corrupt President In American History”

Two House Democrats dismissed reports of low turnout at President Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair on the National Mall, with one suggesting the president drives people away.

The 16-day event, which is scheduled to launch around June 24-25, 2026, is intended to kick off the nation’s semiquincentennial, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. It features state pavilions, rides, concerts, and a July 4th fireworks finale.

Asked what she made of “nobody showing up to Donald Trump’s 250th anniversary party on the mall,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggested the empty crowds were predictable.

“I mean, he, we all know he clears a room, right? So it’s no news where we’re breaking there,” she said.

Rep. Yassamin Ansari, responding to a similar question, was more pointed.

“I’m not surprised at all. Nobody wants to be associated with the most corrupt president in American history who has absolutely destroyed this country as he’s enriched himself and his family,” she said. “So it was hilarious, uh, and pretty sad to see Fox News with the empty background behind them trying to tout this as some sort of success.”

The fair has drawn criticism over what some have characterized as a partisan shift. Multiple musicians withdrew from the event, and several states declined to participate. Some Democratic-led states opted out of official participation amid claims of politicization.

Trump has claimed 45,000 people attended. Multiple media outlets reported sparse opening-day crowds and power outages at the venue.
