The Academy Award-winning murder mystery comedy series “The Afterparty,” from Chris Miller and Phil Lord, will return for a second season on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, Apple TV+ announced today. “The Afterparty” has received widespread acclaim and is a global hit.
The 10-episode second season, which is told through new and popular film genres, will premiere on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes. After that, one new episode will be released every Wednesday until September 6, 2023.
Made by Mill operator, every episode of “The All-nighter” is a classification bowing parody that investigates an alternate person’s record of one pivotal night, all told from the perspective of well-known film sorts and remarkable visuals to match the narrator’s point of view.
Season two will feature the return of Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, and Zo Chao. It will also introduce a new case, new film genres, and a larger cast that includes Elizabeth Perkins, Zach Woods, Poppy Liu, Anna Konkle, Jack Whitehall, Vivian Wu, John Cho, and Ken Jeong.
A wedding is ruined in season two when the groom gets killed, and every guest is made a suspect. To assist Aniq (Richardson) and Zo (Chao) in determining whodunnit, Detective Danner (Haddish) returns to question family members, lovers who have fallen out of love, and business partners. He also hears each suspect recount the weekend from their own unique perspective and visual style.
As part of Lord and Miller’s extensive five-year overall television deal, TriStar TV and Sony Pictures Television produced “The Afterparty” for Apple. Miller and Anthony King, a writer, producer, and performer who got nominated for both Tony and Emmy awards, are both executive producers on the second season. Through their joint production company, Lord Miller, Miller serves as executive producer alongside Lord. Aubrey Lee, Lord Miller’s SVP of Television, is a producer on the show.
