Apple TV+ has released the trailer for its highly anticipated World War II drama, “Masters of the Air,” produced by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman, the executive team behind “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific.”

The stellar cast, led by Academy Award-nominee Austin Butler, includes Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Academy Award-nominee Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa.

Based on Donald L. Miller’s book, the nine-episode season follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group, known as the “Bloody Hundredth,” as they execute perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany. The narrative delves into the psychological and emotional toll paid by these young men as they confronted the harsh realities of combat at 25,000 feet in the air, dealing with frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and the sheer terror of war. The story reflects the toll exacted on these individuals, whether they were shot down, captured, wounded, killed, or fortunate enough to make it home.

Spanning locations from the bucolic fields of southeast England to the harsh deprivations of a German prisoner-of-war camp, “Masters of the Air” presents a unique and crucial period in world history. The series, produced by Apple Studios, is an enormous cinematic achievement, showcasing the scale and scope of the events during this turbulent time.

Executive producers Spielberg, Hanks, and Goetzman lead the project, with John Orloff scripting the adaptation. Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey from Amblin Television, along with Steven Shareshian from Playtone, co-executive produce. The co-executive producer team also includes John Orloff, and Graham Yost is part of the lineup. Directors for the series include Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, Cary Joji Fukunaga, Dee Rees, and Tim Van Patten.

The series will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with its first two episodes on Friday, January 26, followed by a new episode every Friday through March 15, 2024.
