Most stories depicting historical figures have gone without their voices being heard and their stories being known, but thank goodness for Glen Powell and J.D. Dillard new film “Devotion,” the audience will now know who Jesse L. Brown is.
Jesse Brown was a Navy officer and the first black naval aviator who was unfortunately killed in the Korea war in 1950.
Jesse’s story was first published by author Adam Makos, who told me on the red carpet that the reason he was able to bring Jesse’s story to life was a chance meeting with Jesse’s wingman Thomas J. Hudner Jr. A few years later actor Glen Powell came across the story and book and for six years it became his mission to get this story on the big screen,
I recently attended “Devotion’’ LA premiere and had the amazing opportunity to interview some of the cast and then view the movie. I chatted with Glenn Powell, Jonathan Majors, Joe Jonas, Christina Jackson, and director J.D. Dillard and their sentiments were all the same on why it was so important to each of them to not only be a part of the project but the importance of getting Jesse and Thomas’s story out to the world.
The film was a true love letter from Jesse to his wife Daisy and a love letter from Jesse’s naval team to him. With the trials and tribulations that Jesse faced during the times, especially racism, Jesse still worked hard and made sure he was going to be a part of history.
As a history fan myself I found the movie refreshing but emotional, captivating, sad but also amazed because I finally got the chance to learn about the hero Jesse L Brown!’
Devotion premieres during the Thanksgiving Holiday on November 23rd.

Event highlights include The Peripheral branded carpet complete with ‘koids’ from the series. Talent and guests were treated to the premiere episode of the series followed by a themed party hosted by Manuela at Hauser & Wirth. Partygoers entered past a replica of Flynne and Burton’s Airstream trailer and heard beats by DJ Amrit while sipping themed cocktails like the Gibson (a nod to sci-fi author Willam S. Gibson, who penned the novel), participating in the interactive gaming station and posing for photos with the faceless living ‘Koids’ from the series.
We had the opportunity to interview the cast of The Peripheral at last night’s premiere. Check out what they had to say about the new series.
The show follows Flynne Fisher (Chloe Grace Moretz) lives in the rural American South and works at the local 3D printing shop while earning much-needed extra money playing VR games for rich people. One night she dons a headset and finds herself in futuristic London—a sleek and mysterious world, alluringly different from her hardscrabble existence. But this isn’t like any game she’s ever played before: Flynne begins to realize it isn’t virtual reality… it’s real. Someone in London, seventy years in the future, has found a way to open a door to Flynne’s world. And as utterly beguiling as London is… it’s also dangerous. As Flynne searches to discover who has connected their worlds, and for what purpose, her presence here sets dangerous forces into motion…forces intent on destroying Flynne and her family in her world. The Peripheral is master storyteller William Gibson’s dazzling, hallucinatory glimpse into the fate of mankind — and what lies beyond.
The Peripheral is produced by Amazon Studios and Warner Bros Television, in association with Kilter Films. Executive producers for The Peripheral are the creator and showrunner Scott B. Smith (A Simple Plan), director Vincenzo Natali (In the Tall Grass), Greg Plageman (Person of Interest), Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy (Westworld), Athena Wickham (Westworld), and Steven Hoban (In the Tall Grass).
Prime Video’s “The Peripheral” will premiere on Friday, October 21, 2022, exclusively on Prime Video.
When it comes to DC Comics stories and characters, you are almost always guaranteed a story that is not only a classic but a story you would love to see on the big screen. Black Adam is a character that was first introduced to the world in 1945 via a comic book but in 2022 it makes sense that Dwayne The Rock Johnson’s dream was to bring this character to life.
Black Adam the movie stars heavy hitters like Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Pierce Brosnan, and Djimon Hounsou just to name a few, it’s no surprise to learn the film took 8 years to make! DC fans do not have to wait much longer because the film is here, and I think this film will have fans talking!
I recently sat down with actress Sarah Shahi (Isis) and comedian Mohammed Amer who play brother and sister in the new film, and they expressed what their new roles meant to not only them but why representation is so important in the film.
I enjoyed Black Adam so much but what I loved about the film and story, you do not have to read the comics or know the story before watching. I think all fans will enjoy this story of freedom, good guys Vs the bad guys, who are the real heroes, and a story about love at its core
Black Adam hits theaters everywhere on October 21st! My only advice I would give is, if you love surprises, hold on to your seats.
Atlanta’s very own and famous for their quick service, Krystal’s, is back with a brand-new chicken sandwich and campaign with some very familiar faces.
Krystal’s recruited rapper and businessman 2 Chainz as the head of creative marketing for the launch of their brand-new chicken sandwich “Side Chik” and its campaign and slogan ‘’ Don’t Ditch Your Main Chicken Sandwich, Krystal Just Wants You to Add A Side Chik’’. Krystal also recruited and partnered with social media influencer Britney Renner and singer and businessman Ray J to help launch their brand-new campaign.
I recently talked with Ray J about his involvement with the restaurant and why it was important for him to be a part of the brand. Ray being the entrepreneur and businessman he is, talked about his process of picking the brands that are most important to him and why he works with them. You can check Ray J out in some of Krystal’s brand-new commercials and campaigns and going forward it looks like this is a new relationship and partnership that Ray is proud to be a part of.
Krystal is based in Atlanta GA but now that Ray J is working with the team, we can only hope for a pop-up in Los Angeles (at least that is a dream of mine as someone who lives in LA and who would love to taste the brand-new chicken sandwiches)
Allison Janney and Jurnee Smollett are the dynamic duos I didn’t know I need until now!! Staring in Netflix’s upcoming thriller, Lou is a bonified kick-ass movie starring two badass women who do what they need to do for love, family, and safety.
I recently attended the red carpet and screening for the new Netflix film, and this may be my new favorite film of the year. From the amazing story, the two leads being women (Allison and Jurnee), the woman director (Anna Foerster), a woman writer ( Maggie Cohn), J.J. Abrams producing, the crazy twist and turns, this film is a bonified action thriller.
I asked Allison and Jurnee about their journeys on the film and what made them join the team. I had to ask about those fight scenes!
The women worked with fight choreographer Daniel Bernhardt and let me tell you: it pays off in the film! Between the stunts, fights, and the physicality of it all in the wilderness, Allison and Jurnee step to the challenges, and it comes across on screen.
Lou ( played by Allison) is a woman with a dark and secret past whose life is interrupted by a single mom ( played by Jurnee) who requests help from Lou to help her find her kidnapped daughter. Through their journey, the women encounter life and death situations along the way, and a few twists, turns, and revelations come out as these two women learn more about each other.
These two women were phenomenal in the film and you will be at the edge of your seat every step of the way while you’re watching this film.
