The long wait is nearly over! Following a historic theatrical run, James Cameron’s global phenomenon “Avatar: The Way of Water” will premiere on Disney+ on June 7 and will include bonus content with filmmakers, cast, and crew.
“Avatar: The Way of Water” opened in theaters on December 16 and went on to become the third highest-grossing film of all time, grossing nearly $2.32 billion worldwide.
The film was nominated for numerous Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, and it also set a new standard for visual effects.
Cameron and his longtime collaborator Jon Landau produced the 20th Century Studios-Lightstorm Entertainment production, which stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, and Kate Winslet. Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, and Jack Champion joined the illustrious adult cast.
The screenplay was written by James Cameron, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver, and the story was written by James Cameron, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno. The film’s executive producers are David Valdes and Richard Baneham.
“Avatar: The Way of Water” soars to new heights and delves into previously unknown depths as James Cameron returns to Pandora in this emotionally charged action adventure.
The film set more than a decade after the events of the first film, begins the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their children), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. All of this takes place against the backdrop of Pandora’s breathtaking seascapes, where audiences are introduced to new Na’vi cultures and a variety of exotic sea creatures.
In addition to Disney+, the film will be available to watch on Max on June 7th.
