California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new bill, which makes it a crime for first responders to take unauthorized photos of deceased people at the scene of an accident or crime. Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other people were killed after their helicopter crashed in Calabasas on January 26.

This makes it a misdemeanor with fines up to $1,000 per offense to take such photos for anything other than an official law enforcement purpose.
