Breonna Taylor was fatally shot by a former officer of the Louisville Metro Police, who is now a member of the force again.

On Saturday, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office informed WHAS11 News that Myles Cosgrove had been hired.

For breaking the department’s use-of-force policies and failing to wear a body camera during the raid on Breonna Taylor’s apartment, Cosgrove was let go from the force in January 2021.

During the raid, he fired his gun 16 times, making him one of the three officers to do so.

Myles Cosgrove was fired, but no criminal charges have been brought against him because of her passing.

Robert Miller, the chief deputy for Carroll County, emphasized this point in relation to the hiring of Cosgrove.

The Kentucky Law Enforcement Council decided in November not to revoke Cosgrove’s designation as a state peace officer. He could now apply for other law enforcement positions in the state as a result.

In response to his hiring, a protest has already been scheduled for Monday in Carroll County.
