In Season 3 of The Great, Catherine (Elle Fanning) and Peter (Nicholas Hoult) try to make their marriage work after encountering seemingly insurmountable problems. Peter witnesses his own assassination attempt by Catherine, and she imprisons all his friends as well. But those aren’t enough to keep him happy, as visions of his failing late father (played by Jason Isaacs) as Peter the Great’s son come to mind. Catherine the Great begins to make a name for herself across borders and, inspired by a visit by the US ambassador, launches a conference where peasants, aristocrats, and merchants can all contribute to the development of a new Russia. She learns that even the best politicians sometimes have to compromise in order to move forward.
The Great is created, written, and executive produced by Tony McNamara, with Marian McGowan, Mark Winemaker, Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult, Echo Lake’s Brittany Kahan Ward, and Doug Mankoff. , Andrew Spaulding, Throughline’s Ron West, and Josh Kesselman as executive producers. The project is produced by Civic Center Media in collaboration with MRC Television.
The critically acclaimed series returns to Hulu with all 10 episodes on Friday, May 12.
