Chadwick Boseman’s brothers are seeking to take their grievance against the actor’s widow to court. They intend to seek a court ruling to strip Taylor Simone Ledward-Boseman of her powers as administrator of her late husband’s estate, citing mismanagement.
According to TMZ, Kevin and Derrick Boseman have filed court documents seeking Taylor’s removal as administrator of Chadwick Boseman’s estate. She has failed to execute a 2022 ruling granting both parents of the actor, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, a 50% share in the estate, which had no will.
According to court papers, she has kept the family in the dark about what has happened to the estate and has failed to distribute the assets for over six years since Boseman’s death. The estate includes movie royalties, intellectual property rights, investments, insurance policies, personal possessions, and over $3 million that was held in many bank accounts.
According to the brothers, the parents have been denied access to the money and insurance benefits to which they are entitled, and have also been unable to venture into businesses associated with Boseman because of the delay. However, Mrs. Ledward continues to enjoy the actor’s popularity.
The filing requests the court to find Taylor in contempt of court and order an accounting of the entire estate within 30 days. It seeks removal from the position as administrator of the estate, with Jason Rubin, an attorney, taking over the administrator position.
Also, they seek an order prohibiting Taylor from entering into any major contracts with the estate without the family’s consent, and an order requiring her to produce any contracts involving the estate.
Chadwick Boseman is known for his starring role in Black Panther, and he passed away in 2020.
