Lord, have mercy.

Despite that statement being one of the catchy lines in Chloe Bailey’s new single debut, that’s the only thought that crosses your mind while watching her newest music video. Given that Chloe and Halle Bailey are Queen Beyoncé’s prodigy’s themselves, it seems that Chloe is definitely gunning for the crown next with her latest career development.

The 23-year-old singer who goes by Chlöe as a solo artist knew exactly how to drive social media platforms into a frenzy when watching her channel a sense of energy that numerous audiences hadn’t yet seen before. Known for her signature locs, Chlöe took a creative direction that we haven’t seen much of to utilize them. The music video features Chlöe as a modern-day Medusa that lures men into her sorority house with her gorgeous appearance and female residents before turning the “missing” young men into stone.

With her single “Lord, have mercy” being her first solo debut and performance from her duo with her sister Halle Bailey, Chloe took this opportunity to let her artistic freedom be taken to a whole new level. Bailey has received backlash and criticism regarding those who had an issue with her showing more skin in revealing outfits. However, Chloe had the best responses to critics in a recent Instagram Q&A session with fans which she countered and stated, “Because I can. It’s my body, and I’m so proud of it, and I hope you’re proud of yours too.”

Not only were these great moments of choreography, solo dance shots were fans were convinced that Chloe was channeling her inner Beyoncé from some of her signature moves, fashion details and moments, and aesthetically pleasing visuals; there was a major surprising cameo in the video that had fans ecstatic. Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, made a quick appearance in the video as we can see her analyzing a missing sign poster for the love interest, who’s played by Rome Flynn, in the video. “Lord, have mercy” is truly the catchy single that we needed before summer officially comes to an end. However, I’m positive that this won’t be the last time we’re hearing from a solo Chlöe.

After Chlöe’s recent debut performance at the VMA’s where she completely annihilated the stage, this is a moment that will be talked about for ages. When her performance was done, she licked the mic at the end, of course. What other way would be the best to conclude your solo debut? All audiences and fans could think of was:

Lord, have mercy.
