Colombian Influencer Kidnapped by Armed Men in La Guajira; $100 Million Peso Reward Offered

A famous content creator and entrepreneur was kidnapped from her residence located in the countryside of a Colombian border city early Monday morning. Local authorities have announced a bounty of up to 100 million pesos for any information that would help locate her.

Angie Paola Argáez Núñez, 29, was abducted around 2:30 a.m. from a private property in Campana, Los Palitos district of Maicao, La Guajira, as reported by regional media outlet Guajira News.

According to reports, three or four armed men came and forcibly took Argáez Núñez with them, as stated by Guajira News.

The criminals fled in a white 2018 Toyota Fortuner belonging to Argáez Núñez, according to Guajira News.

Mayor of Maicao Miguel Felipe Aragón offered the bounty following a security council meeting on Monday, as stated by newspaper El Universal of Cartagena. The Mayor’s Office said the bounty would be paid to anyone who would provide information regarding the whereabouts of Argáez Núñez.

Police in La Guajira began implementing a lockdown across roads, villages, and border areas, according to news site Diario La Guajira. Police and army anti-kidnapping units (Gaula) are performing intelligence and patrol activities in the countryside and areas near informal border crossings.

Sipol and Sijín, national police intelligence and criminal investigation departments, were involved in the search. Security cameras are also being analyzed to trace the vehicle and identify those responsible.

Mayor’s Office appealed to residents to provide any information that could help locate Argáez Núñez. Tips can be submitted through the 165 emergency line or via phone 321 394 0581, promising anonymity of the caller.

As of Monday evening, her location remains unknown. Authorities have not mentioned any motive for the kidnapping, and it is not clear whether kidnappers have contacted her relatives.

Argáez Núñez is a famous local influencer and entrepreneur. Her relatives, fans, and community groups organized an online campaign calling for her release.

Maicao is located 12 miles away from the Venezuelan border and serves as a major commercial crossing point, known for its long history of smuggling and activity of armed groups.

Kidnapping cases are increasing in Colombia over recent years. According to Fundación Ideas para la Paz, a Bogota-based think tank, there were 256 kidnappings in January-July 2025, which is a 57.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Colombia’s Ministry of Defense reported 56 kidnappings in January-February 2026, compared to 50 in the same period last year.

The case is under investigation.
