A young woman from North Wales, aged 21, passed away at Liverpool’s Adelphi Hotel when a wardrobe fell on top of her. This happened after a night of drinking when the wardrobe fell on top of her, crushing her windpipe in September 2022.
According to reports, Chloe Haynes, who came from North Wales, had spent the night at the Lime Street hotel following her attendance at a wedding reception. Her workmate took her to her hotel room to rest, and she eventually slept there until the next day. When she woke up from sleep, she walked out of bed and went toward the wardrobe, assuming it was a place to escape the hotel. The wardrobe suddenly fell on top of her, trapping her underneath it.
Her workmate eventually came back and found her trapped inside. They sought help from two other guests at the hotel to lift the wardrobe for her. She was subsequently confirmed dead at the scene.
The Liverpool City Council recently filed 20 health and safety charges against Britannia Hotels Ltd. in connection with the incident. The case will be taken to Liverpool Crown Court on June 4.
