HBO Releases ‘THE IDOL’ Official Trailer Starring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp

HBO has released the official trailer for the HBO Original drama series THE IDOL, which premieres on June 4th.

When it debuted on May 22 at the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival, the series received negative reviews from critics. It currently has a 27% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Sam Levinson (HBO’s “Euphoria”), Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, and Reza Fahim co-created THE IDOL, which stars Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp.

The series picks up right after Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) last tour is derailed by a nervous breakdown, and she’s determined to reclaim her rightful place as America’s greatest and sexiest pop star. Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), a nightclub impresario with a shady past, rekindles her passions. Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest and darkest depths of her soul?

Troye Sivan, Dan Levy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son, and Hank Azaria co-star with Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp.

The series is also executive produced by Reza Fahim, Kevin Turen, Ashley Levinson, Joe Epstein, Aaron L. Gilbert for BRON, and Sara E. White. Sam Levinson directed all six episodes of THE IDOL, which was co-produced by A24.
