Wakanda’s future is now. The roaring applause that filled Hall H at Marvel Studios’ panel on Saturday night at Comic-Con signaled the arrival of not only David Jonsson, but the now grown-up version of Black Panther, a truly exciting chapter in one of the comic world’s most beloved and critically acclaimed series.
In “Black Panther 3,” this is the Black Panther that our beloved Boseman paved the way for as he passes it on to the next generation, who will be introduced in Marvel’s exciting 2028 release.
This has been on our minds, and thankfully, it looks like the next part of Wakanda’s story in “Black Panther 3.” It seems that director Ryan Coogler has cast Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa and Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia’s son to assume the Wakandan moniker and legacy, as first reported by Deadline.
The third installment has been slated for a December 18th release in 2028, giving us plenty of time to build up to it.
The excitement generated at the Hall H appearance was almost electric as Jonsson stood beaming between co-stars (now family), director Ryan Coogler, Letitia Wright, and Winston Duke, all taking turns offering joyful embraces as if he had been part of the Panther-verse family from the very start.
“Thank you to this amazing family that I have the honor and privilege and the blessing to join,” the new Black Panther told the audience tearfully.
In another shocking piece of news from the blockbuster, Denzel Washington will be joining in on the action, though what specific role he’ll be playing in the Panther saga remains unknown.
