A high school biology teacher has resigned after Deer Creek School District uncovered evidence that she utilized her Google Docs to send out sexual messages to a 15-year-old student, according to police reports.
The biology teacher was identified as Sarah Hull-Degroat. The school district found out about the messages between Hull-Degroat and the student on December 2nd. The docs showed she began communicating with the student in October.
The school district uses a system that alerts district officials when potential threats and signs of danger, including cyberbullying, internet predators, depression, suicidal thoughts and sexting.
Sarah Hull-Degroat was initially placed on administrative leave by the district for further investigation and taken into custody by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department.
The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office revealed that she sent sexual messages and topless photos of herself to the student.
The parents of students in Sarah Hull-Degroat’s class were made aware of the incident but Lacy Rice, a parent of one of the Deer Creek told Fox 25 that administrators have not released any district-wide communications regarding the situation.
On Monday, Sarah Hull-Degroat submitted her resignation at 5:08 p.m. to the Deer Creek School District.
Sarah Hull-Degroat got arrested and charged for facilitating sexual conduct with a minor. Her bond got set at $50,000 and she was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
