Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy Passed Away In A Car Accident

Athens-Clarke County Police Department revealed that two people were killed in a car crash this morning. The people that died were a football player and an athletic staff member from the University of Georgia, according to the university athletic department.

The victim in the passenger in a Ford Expedition that crashed on Barnett Shoals Road got identified as Devin Willock, who was a 20-year-old red-shirt sophomore that played on the offensive line on the national championship team. He got pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim in the driver’s seat got identified as 24-year-old Chandler LeCroy, who was a football recruiting analyst at the university. She got pronounced dead after an ambulance took her to a nearby hospital.

A 21-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman got seriously injured in the accident, according to police. The University of Georgia Athletics confirmed that both people were also members of the football program. They’re in stable condition.

The University of Georgia athletic department released a statement about the tragic incident:

The entire Georgia family is devastated by the tragic loss of football student-athlete Devin Willock and football staff member Chandler LeCroy. Two other members of the football program were injured in the accident. They are both in stable condition, and we will continue to monitor their status with medical personnel.”

Devin and Chandler were two special people who meant so much to the University of Georgia, our football program, and our athletic department. We ask that everyone keep their families in your prayers during this very difficult time.”

The UGA Athletic Association will work with our medical team as well as our mental health and performance personnel to make sure we are providing the best support possible for our staff and student-athletes who are processing this grief. We can provide no further comment at this time but ask that everyone continue to keep those involved in your prayers.”

Head football coach Kirby Smart also released a statement about the painful losses the football program and community lost this morning.
