Sean “Diddy” Combs was transported via ambulance from a federal prison in New Jersey early Saturday to address a head injury, TMZ reported on Monday, citing sources from the facility.
The ambulance took Combs away from the Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix around 1 a.m., according to the outlet. TMZ speculated he was taken to a nearby hospital but did not specify the destination.
Sources told TMZ that Combs was conscious and able to communicate when returned to the prison just before dawn and that the authorities did not consider the injury life-threatening. The circumstances of the injury were unknown.
Federal Bureau of Prisons has so far refused to comment on Combs’ medical transfers, saying it does not comment on the medical condition of any individual in its custody due to privacy, safety, and security concerns.
The medical transfer of the music producer comes less than two weeks after Combs, 56, was transferred to the special housing unit of the prison, also known as solitary confinement. TMZ first reported the move on September 30, one day after NBC News published an article describing Combs’ luxurious life behind bars.
Based on interviews with four former inmates of the unit, NBC News reported that Combs spent thousands of dollars every month to recreate his luxurious lifestyle behind bars. The men said he had no problems obtaining contraband items such as cell phones and premium liquor, including Hennessy, and that he paid other inmates to cook for him, do his laundry, remake his bed, clean the bathroom before his use, and massage him. NBC News added that it had obtained video footage showing Combs using a contraband phone.
Bureau of Prisons spokesperson refused to confirm the report of Combs’ move, citing privacy, safety, and security concerns. A representative for Combs denied the reports about his life in prison.
The inmates in the special housing unit of Fort Dix are reportedly confined to a cell for at least 23 hours a day, according to two former inmates interviewed by NBC News.
This is the second time Combs has been put into solitary confinement. In July, he was put there following a fight with another inmate. Later, NBC News reported that he was removed from a drug treatment program in the prison.
Combs’ projected release date has also changed. Bureau of Prisons records show the new date as March 2, 2028, several weeks later than the previous one, January 21, 2028. The agency said it does not comment on why a release date changes, and a representative for Combs said his team has not been told why the date changed.
The date has been changed several times since Combs arrived at Fort Dix in October 2025, when it was set for May 8, 2028. The release date for federal inmates may change earlier or later depending on awards and revocations of credits for good behavior and participation in various programs.
A federal jury in Manhattan convicted Combs in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, which could have resulted in a life sentence. In October 2025, he was sentenced to 50 months in prison.
Combs’s lawyers filed an appeal in April asking the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse the conviction or to impose a new sentence, saying the trial judge should not have considered the evidence related to the charges on which Combs was acquitted. The appeal is still pending.
Combs, the founder of Bad Boy Records, is also facing dozens of civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual abuse. He has denied the allegations.
