Reality TV personality “Kash” was shot dead in downtown Oakland early Sunday, and a woman was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Mackayla Paige, 29, of Richmond, made a name for herself through Now That’s TV, where she appeared on reality TV shows like Young & Reckless, RoomH8z, and Real West Coast Baddies. Family members identified her as the victim, an identification confirmed by KTVU, which paid tribute to her on Instagram.

Now That’s TV is a streaming network created by Black entrepreneur Teleau Belton and known for reality shows that do not hold back.

Oakland police received calls around 1:30 a.m. Sunday about a shooting on the 200 block of 14th Street near 14th and Harrison streets, where they found Paige with at least one gunshot wound. The first responders tried to save her life at the scene before taking her to the hospital, where she later died.

A woman from Richmond was arrested in connection with the murder. As of Monday morning, her name, the charges she faces, and how the shooting took place had not been revealed. The department’s Homicide Section is investigating.

Video on TikTok showed a large police presence outside a lounge close to the shooting location, according to KTVU.

Several hours before the shooting, Paige posted Instagram Stories showing her having a good time on Saturday night.

By Sunday, relatives and friends were setting up a makeshift memorial close to the spot of the shooting, describing her as outgoing and fun-loving, a person who loved the limelight and dreamt of becoming famous.

Her cousin, Nicky Clayton, told KTVU that Paige had visited her family before the shooting took place. Clayton said Paige had worked as a model for several companies and wanted to become a reality TV star, open her own business, and work as a makeup artist.

One of Paige’s friends, Poodahh, who has a tattoo dedicated to her on his hand, said of her constant drive to reach her full potential, “I’m sorry for our loss, because she’s a star.”

The murder occurred only months after Oakland officials celebrated a significant reduction in violence, as the city had seen its lowest number of homicides in 2025 since 1967.

The police are asking anyone who has any information, photos, or video footage related to the murder to contact the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section or the tip line, or to send an email to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.
