Mexican actress and singer Eiza González has issued an emotional message defending Jennifer Lopez following the postponement of her highly anticipated tour. González took to Instagram Story to offer her support for Lopez, who has faced widespread criticism in recent months.
“I have to say the level of bullying that this woman has received in the last few months is so disturbing and heartbreaking,” González shared. “How can you complain about someone being mean while being mean about them. People are humans, make mistakes, and some have personal things happening while also having to be constantly perfect in the public eye.”
The 3 Body Problem star continued, “The world is a pretty complicated place. The best thing we could be doing now is be kind. We have no clue what people are experiencing.”
González, who gained fame with her role in the teen sitcom Sueña conmigo in 2010, defended the Jenny From the Block singer on the same day Live Nation and a fan newsletter announced the cancellation of the This Is Me … Live Tour. This would have been Lopez’s first tour in five years.
“Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends,” the announcement read. The cancellation follows speculation of poor ticket sales and rumors of marital issues between Lopez and her husband, actor Ben Affleck.
Following the postponement, some fans turned to social media to attack Lopez for not matching the success of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Despite the online outrage, López and Affleck have not commented on the condition of their marriage.
