Ella Langley says she’s at a loss for words.
The country artist used TikTok to thank her fans after her song “Choosin’ Texas” became the longest-running No. 1 in Billboard Hot 100 history, acknowledging the feat still feels surreal.
“I’m genuinely trying to find the words to help explain what’s going on in my brain today, crew,” Langley said in the video. “Thank you so much. Thank you for loving this song, for listening to it.”
“Choosin’ Texas” stayed at No. 1 for its 23rd week, breaking the record for the longest stay atop the chart. The announcement came on Tuesday. On the chart dated Sept. 26, the song surpassed “All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, which topped the chart each holiday season since becoming No. 1 in 1994. It wasn’t an uninterrupted 23-week streak.
Along the way, “Choosin’ Texas” also beat previous records set by “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey, “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X, and “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.
Langley said in the video that she has already tried every possible way to describe the situation.
“I feel like I just don’t even know what to say at this point. I mean, I’m running out of like hyperboles to describe how I feel,” she said. “So I will just let my dog in the background show you his excitement.”
She noted that her success has greatly impacted her life.
“It’s changing my life. It’s changing lives of the writers of this song. It’s changing lives of my family,” Langley said. “And it is truly growing an atmosphere for something I’m gonna be able to do the rest of my life.”
The artist herself, along with Luke Dick and Miranda Lambert, co-wrote the song. When it first appeared on the Hot 100 on Nov. 1, 2025, it became Langley’s first top-10 single in January and reached No. 1 in February.
The numbers behind the streak are impressive. According to data and analytics company Luminate, there were 911 million on-demand streams in the US and 1.26 billion global streams as of mid-August. At the beginning of 2023, Ella Langley had less than 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify around the time of her Grand Ole Opry debut. Now, she has more than 32 million.
The song also made its mark on the charts’ history. It’s the first time a female artist topped the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts simultaneously. It has stayed at No. 1 for 41 weeks on Hot Country Songs, and it tied the record for the longest reign on the Digital Song Sales chart with 18 weeks, sharing it with BTS.
Ella Langley admits she always half-expects someone to tell her it was all a joke.
“Today that doesn’t feel like a real thing. It feels fake, and somebody’s gonna come in and be like, haha, we’re kidding the whole time,” she said.
For now, she wants to enjoy this moment.
“I’m gonna go out and celebrate tonight, and I’m really excited to just experience a moment like this in my life,” Langley said. “Just thank you so much and, um, yeah, cheers.”

According to Billboard, the song’s climb on the charts isn’t over yet, and Mariah Carey’s Christmas hit could break another record when the season comes again.
