Today, Netflix announced the new Swedish film A Day and a Half directed by Fares Fares (Westworld, Chernobyl). The film will feature Alexej Manvelov (Chernobyl) and Alma Pöysti (Tove) in the lead roles, alongside Fares Fares himself who also makes his directorial debut.
To reunite with his daughter, Artan (Alexej Manvelov) takes his ex-wife Louise (Alma Pöysti) hostage and embarks on a thrilling and emotion-charged road trip with her and police officer Lukas (Fares Fares). The journey takes them through rural Sweden during a hot summer, all while having police on their heels.
Fares Fares, director and one of the lead actors in the film, says: “I’m really looking forward for this story to unfold on screen and feel privileged to have some of the best cast and team on board to make that happen.”
A Day and a Half is produced by Warner Bros. International TV Production in Sweden and will be directed by Fares Fares. Fares Fares and Peter Smirnakos are the screenwriters. Johan Hedman is attached to the film as executive producer. Christina Legkova will serve as a producer on the film, alongside Hanna Lundmark.
Claire Willats, Director of Film, Nordics, at Netflix: “We are honored that Netflix will be the home of the first film directed by Fares Fares and are excited to work with such a talented team behind and in front of the camera.
