Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is in the process of being released from the Hennepin County correctional facility, his attorney tells CNN. He is one of the four officers charged in the death of George Floyd. He faces murder and manslaughter charges.

Derek Chauvin’s attorney Eric Nelson says Chauvin posted $1 million bond with conditions. In addition, the Minnesota Department of Corrections said, “I can confirm he is no longer in our custody.” The court requires he return for his next court appearance in March.

The former Minneapolis police officer was charged with murder after kneeling on George Floyd’s neck for nearly 9 minutes in May. Chauvin is required to return for his next court appearance in March.
