A teacher who used to work at Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) got arrested and charged with several sexual offenses for having sex with a minor, according to the Montgomery County Police.
The person who was victimized claims they had sexual encounters with Melissa Marie Curtis, who is now 31 years old, when they were underage.
On October 5th, the cops in Montgomery County started looking into some claims of sexual abuse made by a guy who says he had sexual stuff going on with Curtis when he was younger.
According to the police, the alleged abuse started in 2015 when Curtis was 22. It went on for a few months while the victim was a student at Montgomery Village Middle School, where Curtis worked as a teacher. The incidents occurred within Montgomery County, as per the police.
Curtis got a warrant for her arrest on Halloween, accusing her of sexually abusing a minor and committing several third and fourth-degree sexual offenses.
Curtis had been teaching for about two years in Montgomery County and she also taught at Lakelands Park Middle School.
The SVID detectives think there might be more victims and want to talk to them. They’re urging potential victims to give them a call at 240-773-5400.
Curtis handed herself over on November 7th and is just waiting for a bond hearing.
