Fiancé of Zanzibar-based social media influencer Ashlee Janae is coming forward several months after her passing in Zanzibar, releasing screenshots of text messages, photos, and videos of their relationship amid online rumors that he might have played a role in her death.
According to the latest interviews, Joe McCann has stated that he released the screenshots to refute these online allegations. He explained that Ashlee’s mental state deteriorated in the few weeks prior to her death, adding that everything went out of control following her calling off the engagement in an argument on their trip to Zanzibar.
The man alleged that Ashlee was very upset about the call-off and destroyed the villa in which they were staying at the time. The photos and videos showed instances where she had experienced panic attacks, breakdowns, and a moment where she was throwing his clothes into the street.
Moreover, he released a screenshot of text messages he sent to Ashlee’s mother explaining her worsening mental state and how she had threatened suicide in the past.
McCann stated that he began growing concerned following several messages he received on the night she passed away, and tried contacting her many times, but in vain, until he went into her villa to find her unresponsive.
It is reported that authorities concluded that Ashlee died by suicide.
McCann said he has decided to release the messages, photos, and videos to refute online rumors.
