Apple TV+ has offered a sneak peek into its upcoming true crime limited series, “Manhunt,” starring Tobias Menzies, renowned for his roles in “The Crown,” “Game of Thrones,” and “Outlander.” Created by Emmy nominee Monica Beletsky, who has an impressive portfolio including “Fargo” and “The Leftovers,” the seven-part series is set to captivate audiences with its gripping narrative.

Emmy nominee Carl Franklin, known for his work on “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” takes the directorial reins for the first two episodes, contributing his expertise to the project. The series is scheduled for a global debut on Apple TV+ starting March 15, 2024, with episodes released weekly through April 19, 2024.

Drawing inspiration from the New York Times bestselling book and Edgar Award-winning non-fiction work by James L. Swanson, “Manhunt” delves into the conspiracy thriller genre. It unfolds the complex and lesser-known tale of the pursuit of John Wilkes Booth in the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, offering viewers a fresh perspective on a historically significant crime.

The cast features a stellar lineup, including Anthony Boyle, Lovie Simone, Will Harrison, Brandon Flynn, Damian O’Hare, Glenn Morshower, Patton Oswalt, Matt Walsh, and Hamish Linklater. Their collective talent promises a compelling portrayal of the characters woven into this historical narrative.

“Manhunt” is a collaborative effort between Apple Studios and Lionsgate Television, co-produced with POV Entertainment, Walden Media, 3 Arts Entertainment, Dovetale Productions, and Monarch Pictures. The executive team comprises Monica Beletsky, Carl Franklin, Layne Eskridge, and Kate Barry. The series benefits from the involvement of James L. Swanson as an executive producer, along with Michael Rotenberg, Richard Abate, Frank Smith, and Naia Cucukov.

As Apple TV+ continues to diversify its content offerings, “Manhunt” emerges as a promising addition, blending historical significance with the suspenseful elements of a true crime thriller.

Fans of the genre can anticipate a captivating journey through one of history’s most intriguing criminal investigations.
