A first look at Sabrina Carpenter and Seth Rogen in “The Muppet Show” is now available ahead of the show’s return Feb. 4 as a special event on Disney+ and ABC.
The new special event brings Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the Muppet gang back to the stage of the original Muppet Theatre, with music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos as they welcome Carpenter as their special guest.
The production comes from 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio, and Point Grey Pictures. Alex Timbers directs and serves as an executive producer. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weave,r and Alex McAtee are executive producers for Point Grey Pictures. David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, and Michael Steinbach are executive producers for The Muppets Studio. Carpenter, Albertina Rizzo, Matt Voge,l and Eric Jacobson are also executive producers.
“The Muppet Show,” created by Jim Henson, originally ran from 1976 through 1981, aired in more than 100 countries, and featured guest stars including Elton John, Johnny Cash, Diana Ross, Debbie Harry, Gladys Knight, Liza Minelli, and Paul Simon. The series earned Emmy, Grammy, Peabody, and BAFTA awards, among others. In a 1978 story, Time magazine called it “the most popular television entertainment now being produced on Earth.”
In 2026, “The Muppet Show” will celebrate its 50th anniversary. All five seasons are currently available to stream on Disney+.
Veteran Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel will perform the majority of the characters in the new production, supported by additional performers. Goelz has performed with The Muppets for more than 50 years, worked on the original” The Muppet Show” and originated characters including Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew.
