In 2006, Cariol Horne, a Buffalo police officer, intervened when officer Gregory Kwiatkowski had a suspect, David Mack, in a chokehold.

Horne jumped on Kwiatkowski’s back to prevent him from harming Mack.

She was fired from BPD for her actions and lost her pension.
