Ex-Minnesota cop Kimberly Potter was sentenced on Friday to 24 months – ⅔ of the sentence in prison and the final ⅓ on supervised release – after a Hennepin County jury found her guilty of both first-degree and second-degree manslaughter on December 23, 2021, for the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old Black man, at a traffic stop on April 11, 2021. Judge Regina Chu said the sentencing was “an extremely difficult decision,” and said, “this is a cop who made a tragic mistake,” USA Today reports.
