Tylor Chase played the role of Martin Qwerly on Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide. Unfortunately, today he can be found living on the streets of Riverside.
A video of him sleeping on the street and being homeless surfaced on TikTok in September. The video went viral, and there were complex discussions on what may happen to child actors when it comes to issues like mental illness and addiction.
His collaborators included Devon Werkheiser and Daniel Curtis Lee, as well as Tyson Blake, in another Nickelodeon series from 2004 to 2007, which was about three friends starting middle school. Many fans now remember Chase as Martin Qwerly, who was always quiet but always thoughtful.
Seeing Chase upset in the video has affected many of Chase’s fans who are currently viewing him on social media.
After the video, a GoFundMe campaign began, and more than $1,200 was raised to provide food, clothing, and other necessities. However, Chase’s mother halted the fundraising. Chase, according to his mother, has bipolar disorder and financial issues.
His friends and ex-colleagues also shared similar comments. Daniel Curtis Lee, an ex-colleague of Chase, also visited Chase at Riverside and shared his concerns about his addiction and mental illnesses. He asked his fans not to seek an easy way out, as Chase requires ongoing assistance and needs a place to stay.
Despite a lot of attention, Chase was still living on the streets at the end of 2025, according to some locals. It has given his fans hope that he might eventually receive proper help after witnessing him in that situation.
Many individuals expressed their views regarding this video.
“You knew who he was. This breaks my heart… God, please watch over him and keep him safe,” one user said.
Another user was critiquing the act of filming the situation, stating, “There’s no need to have a camera in his face, asking him dumb questions. You knew who he was.”
There were those concerned about taping someone in such a place. “Why record him in such a manner? He looked uncomfortable. This could have all been happening off-camera,” asked a user.
“Nah, this hurts,” a voice replied. “Nickelodeon used these kids and threw them out when they were done… how did he end up on the side of the road?” Another commenter expressed some anger at the industry that had lauded Chase as a youngster. “People say child actors always end up like this, but it would be nice if it weren’t so common.”
