Earlier this year, a teacher from San Diego was detained on suspicion of having sex with a student. Now, the teacher is charged with additional offenses involving a boy under the age of 14.

Last week, a criminal complaint was brought against Jacqueline Ma, a sixth-grade teacher at Lincoln Acres Elementary in National City. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the complaint contains four new charges, two of which are related to the second child.

At least one incident is alleged to have taken place in a classroom in February, though the complaint is unclear as to whether the second victim was a student. Because a second victim was involved, the 34-year-old now faces a life sentence.

Jacqueline Ma was honored as the county’s “Teacher of the Year” the previous year. She was, however, detained in March following the alleged months-long sexual grooming of a young student. She was accused of committing several felonies against children, including seducing a child and possessing child pornography.

Ma was initially detained and released on $100,000 bail; however, she was picked up once more two days later on suspicion of trying to contact the student, according to the police. Her second bail request was denied by the judge.

Due to the new charges, Ma’s preliminary hearing has been postponed until October.
