A former Texas teacher, Adriana Mariel Rullan, has been arrested on multiple charges, according to Webb County Jail records. Rullan, who was employed at Gonzalez Middle School, faced allegations that led to her booking and subsequent release from the Webb County Jail on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023.
The charges against Rullan include sexual abuse of a child: victim under 14, improper relationship between educator and student, and indecency with a child involving sexual contact. The arresting agency, as indicated by the records, was the UISD’s Police Department.
The news broke when the Daily Mail reported the arrest, shedding light on the accusations surrounding the former educator. In response to the incident, the UISD (United Independent School District) released an official statement on Wednesday morning, addressing the arrest of their former employee on various charges.
In the initial statement, UISD stated, “UISD has learned of the arrest of a former employee for various charges. UISD promptly followed administrative and legal protocol and collaborated with UISD PD to investigate the serious allegations against the former employee before the arrest.” The statement also highlighted that the former employee had been placed on leave as soon as the district became aware of the allegations.
The school district emphasized its commitment to adhering to state and federal laws concerning such matters. While UISD refrained from providing specific details regarding the ongoing investigation, the statement assured the community that the district no longer employs the individual.
