Freeform has released the official teaser for Coven Academy, a supernatural teen drama that premieres October 1st and is executive-produced by Tim Federle.
Coven Academy starts streaming on October 1st at 8 p.m. EDT/PDT on Freeform. All episodes will be released the following day on Disney+, Hulu, and Freeform On Demand. Designed for binge-watching, each chapter features rapid action and captivating storylines.
The teaser shows Briar (played by Malina Pauli Weissman) struggling with her newfound powers as a witch and the complicated love triangle between her, Jake (Malachi Barton), and Ollie (Louis Thresher). Set to the soundtrack of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Brutal,” the clip hints at the magnetic energy Briar emits, drawing other young witches to her.
Set in the cursed heart of New Orleans, Coven Academy tells the story of three teenage witches and their mesmerizing warlock companions who attend an exclusive magic school where power, secrets, and allure are lethal. Amid ancient battles between supernatural beings and forbidden attractions, the coven must choose how far they’ll go to protect the city and themselves.
Weissman, who was in A Series of Unfortunate Events, stars as Briar, an extremely independent girl from New York who realizes that she is a witch. Barton, who appeared in Camp Rock 3 and Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires, will play Jake, the magnetic but dangerous warlock. Jordan Leftwich (The Family Switch) plays Sasha, an empathic girl who can read people’s thoughts, while Ora Duplass (Their Town) plays Tegan, the witch who can manipulate time. Thresher (Boarders) plays Ollie, a new vampire who still thirsts for blood, and Tiffani Thiessen (White Collar, 90210) plays Miss Graves, the school’s intimidating, glamorous headmistress. Special guest star in the episode is Devon Sawa (Hacks) as Mr. Cole, a charismatic professor-warlock.
Recurring cast members include Swayam Bhatia as McKenna, Brendon Tremblay as Alexander, Keegan Connor Tracy as Tamora, BJ Harrison as Agnes, and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre as Teese.
Created and executive-produced by Tim Federle (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and the upcoming Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion sequel), Coven Academy is produced by Federle’s production company, Chorus Boy Productions, for Disney Kids & Family.
