The news just came in that is quite shocking: it appears Halle Bailey and DDG have called it quits. On Thursday, DDG rapper and YouTuber himself tookto Instagram to announce the breakup.
“Dear friends and supporters, after much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” DDG wrote. “This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us.” He added that although the romance between them had concluded, the bond that they shared had not. “Although the dynamics of our relationship have changed, one thing remains certain, our love for each other remains deep and real. We are still best friends and love each other very much.”

In January 2024, the couple welcomed their first child, Halo. Both have been candid about the journey into parenthood. Halle-the other half of the sister duo Chloe x Halle and star of The Little Mermaid has called Halo a “miracle,” speaking of her emotional connection to her son. “He is perfect. He is beautiful. When I look at him, I cry because of how special he is,” she said earlier this year.
Halle has been open about struggling with postpartum depression. In a bare-it-all Snapchat video, she spoke candidly about how her pregnancy emotionally took a toll on her. “I have severe, severe postpartum [depression], and I don’t know if any new moms can relate, but it’s to the point where it’s really bad,” she confessed, detailing how hard it has been for her when she has to be away from her baby even for small lengths of time. She added that this is more about her identity than anything that concerns her child. “Like, the only thing that’s been hard for me is feeling normal in my own body. I feel like a completely different person when I look in the mirror.”
Despite the couple’s emotional turmoil, they’ve both endured over the last few months, DDG made sure to bring it full circle by mentioning just how much respect and love they still have for each other while continuing to co-parent Halo.
The news shocked a lot of fans because many of them loved their close relationship, but the message from DDG made it transparent that even though the chapter regarding their romantic partnership was closed, the two would stick together for their son.
