In this world, there aren’t many things that can compare to humanity’s kindness. People are capable of doing great things for one another when they band together for the common good.

The inspiring drama Ordinary Angels, starring Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson, has a general message that is clearly visible in the new trailer. Swank portrays Sharon, a hairdresser who finds meaning in life by helping a widower and his two daughters during their most difficult times.

After reading about the struggling family’s situation in the newspaper, Sharon in the trailer decides to help them. They’re as wholesome as it gets, with Ritchson portraying patriarch Ed who makes an effort to care for his daughters while bidding his wife farewell. But for them, it’s not simple. Ed is struggling to pay his hospital bills because he simply doesn’t earn enough money to cover his expenses.

Additionally, his youngest child Michelle (Emily Mitchell) requires a kidney transplant and is in critical condition. The family is a bit of a mess, but Sharon also arrives with money and a plan in mind. She makes their lives better and does everything she can to assist them, including schmoozing with superiors to have their medical expenses reduced. But when Michelle’s condition deteriorates to the point where flying her to a children’s hospital is the only way to save her, the blows to Ed keep coming.

Ordinary Angels are based on a true story of real-life heroism about a hairdresser who rallied her neighbors to help a dying child by clearing a path to her flight during a historic North American cold wave in 1994.

The trailer’s closing scenes depict the same event, with throngs of people sweeping the streets with shovels in hand for the greater good. It’s a heartwarming way to end the film, given the film’s message about having faith and believing in everyday miracles.

Nancy Travis, Tamala Jones, Amy Acker, Drew Powell, and Skywalker Hughes are among the cast members of the movie in addition to Swank and Ritchson.

Jon Gunn, who has experience directing faith-based movies, including his most recent full-length film The Case for Christ in 2017, is the creator of Ordinary Angels.

Additionally, Gunn served as a writer for the current religious revival hit Jesus Revolution. Are You There God?, which Kelly Fremon Craig recently wrote and directed, is based on a Judy Blume novel. The script for Gunn’s most recent film was written by It’s Me, Margaret, and Meg Tilly.
