Houston Hottie Megan Thee Stallion Launches Program to Aid Seniors After Hurricane Beryl

Houston native Megan Thee Stallion is stepping up to help her hometown recover from the devastation of Hurricane Beryl. The Houston Hottie announced a new initiative through her Pete and Thomas Foundation on Thursday, partnering with Bread of Life Inc. to launch an Emergency Power Program.

The program aims to provide generators to elderly residents across Houston, ensuring they have access to electricity during future natural disasters. Hurricane Beryl slammed into the Caribbean and Gulf Coast earlier this month, leaving a path of destruction that claimed at least 52 lives and caused over $6 billion in damages.

“Seeing the elderly population in Houston struggle without power during these horrific storms has been heartbreaking,” Megan said in a statement. “That’s why we’re partnering with Bread of Life to take a proactive approach and secure generators to safeguard our senior citizens. We need to ensure our elders have the resources they need to weather future emergencies.”

The hurricane plunged 2.7 million Houston residents into darkness for an extended period. Coupled with the scorching Texas summer heat, this lack of power tragically resulted in six heat-related deaths.

With thousands still without power a week after the storm’s passing, the need for assistance remains high. “We’re committed to expanding support for Houston’s most vulnerable residents,” said Bread of Life founder Rudy Rasmus. “Hurricane Beryl, the recent derecho, and other storms have made it clear that our seniors desperately need help. Through this partnership with Megan Thee Stallion and her foundation, we hope to equip senior personal care homes with generators before the hurricane season truly peaks. Our goal is to ensure uninterrupted service for our most vulnerable during power outages caused by storms or other events.”

Bread of Life, a Houston-based non-profit, offers resources and support to the city’s most at-risk communities. Megan established the Pete and Thomas Foundation in 2022 with the mission of “uplifting and assisting women, children, senior citizens, and underserved communities.” Named after her parents, the foundation boasts of assisting over 14,000 people in just two years.

Past initiatives by the Pete and Thomas Foundation include holiday-oriented giveaways, such as care packages for single mothers impacted by domestic violence on Mother’s Day. The foundation has also tackled housing issues in Houston by creating the Emergency Hardship Assistance Fund to aid those facing financial difficulties. Additionally, they offer a scholarship grant program and an initiative called Hotties Helping, which connects Megan’s fans with volunteer opportunities across the country.

You would think red states would band together to support their constituents better. Did the governor even declare an emergency for federal assistance yet?
