The girls are fighting, and this time, it is straight out of Houston

Rapper Ivy K is lighting up social media after accusing Megan Thee Stallion of stealing the concept, cadence, and hook of her 2024 track. It’s Whateva for Megan’s latest release, Whenever. And let’s say Ivy is not mincing her words.

While the two artists are both from H-Town, there’s no unity in sight. Ivy claims Megan’s team not only heard her song but reached out to potentially collaborate before backing out at the last minute. Now Megan is being accused of stealing Ivy’s sauce and using it without permission.

Megan’s Team Allegedly Reached Out, Then Ghosted Her

The controversy centers around a particular part of both tracks: the hook. In Ivy K’s It’s Whateva, she raps:

B** it’s whateva, He it’s whateva.”

In Megan’s Whenever the hook goes:
It’s whenever B. It’s whenever H*e.

Now, sure, neither “it’s whateva” nor “it’s whenever” are groundbreaking expressions. Let’s not pretend either artist invented slang used at every cookout and Instagram caption since 2012. But Ivy’s point isn’t just about the words. It’s about the delivery, the placement, the energy, and most of all, the timing.

She says she dropped her song earlier this year, and when Megan’s team found out, they allegedly reached out to her. According to Ivy, the contact happened about a month ago, but the conversation took a sudden turn.

Ivy K Spills All the Tea in a Scorching Instagram Live

During an explosive Instagram Live stream, Ivy let her followers in on what happened behind the scenes. And she did not hold back one bit.

“They said Megan shouldn’t work with me… You know how many mfs work with YoungBoy and YoungBoy do the most? You know how many people work with Kodak and he get full of drugs and do the most? B****es be trying to jock the flow.”

Yes, she went there. And she’s not wrong about one thing. Rappers with way more baggage than Ivy still get million-dollar collaborations and mainstream radio play. So why was Ivy suddenly too controversial for Megan, a rapper who’s made a career out of owning her boldness and doing things her way? Ivy wants answers.

And more than that, she wants credit.

Megan is Quiet, But the Internet is Loud and Picking Sides

As of now, Megan Thee Stallion hasn’t issued any statement. No Instagram comment, no shady tweet, not even a passive-aggressive “we wish her well” type of post. The Hot Girl Coach is unbothered, at least publicly.

But the internet? Baby, the streets are talking. Ivy’s claims are gaining traction on TikTok, with side-by-side comparisons of both songs making the rounds. Some fans are defending Megan, saying the phrases are too generic to be considered theft. Others are fully Team Ivy, arguing that artists with less industry clout often get overlooked, only to see their creativity repackaged and pushed out by bigger names.

ThiIsn’t’t Megan Thee Stallion’s First Rodeo with Copycat Claims

This isn’t Megan’s first time facing whispers of plagiarism. Just last year, she was caught in another situation when Florida rapper Plies filed a lawsuit claiming Wanna Be, Megan’s track with Cardi B and GloRilla, sounded suspiciously similar to his 2008 hit Me & My Goons.

At the time, Megan’s producer, Lil Ju Made Da Beat, came to her defense, saying the track was inspired by the 2006 song “My Dougie.” The case has since fizzled out, but it added fuel to a growing conversation about originality in hip-hop and who gets to “borrow” from whom.

With Ivy K stepping up to tell her story loud and clear, it looks like Megan might have another mess to clean up.

Ivy K Says It’s Deeper Than a Hook: It’s About Respect

Ivy’s frustration runs deeper than just one song. She’s speaking up not only for herself but for every underdog who feels silenced by the industry.

She’s not dragging Megan just for the sake of drama. She’s calling out what she sees as a double standard. Ivy is rough around the edges, but so are plenty of male rappers who still get opportunities left and right. So why was she blocked while her style ended up in a mainstream track just weeks later?

The message is loud and clear. Ivy K feels robbed. And while no lawsuit has been filed yet, she’s made it known. She sees what’s going on, and she’s not staying quiet.

If You Thought This Was Over, Think Again

Whether this situation turns into a full-on legal battle or just another chapter in rap’s ongoing culture wars, one thing is for sure. The girls are watching.

And in Ivy’s eyes, this wasn’t just a case of “whatever.r” This was calculated. Strategic. Messy.

Stay tuned because something tells us this isn’t the last time Ivy K will have something to say.
